Nancy Wake was an Australian living in France when the country surrendered to the Germans in 1940, Ms Wake helped people escape to Spain before she fled to Britain in 1943 when the Gestapo came after her. Trained there, she was parachuted back into France by the British to organise the resistance ahead of D-Day.
