LOVE! Self portrait hand prints. Have the students write about their year. What did they think this year was going to be like/what was it really like? How have they grown? What new things about themselves did they learn? Fill the hands with patterns and the background with their writing. by whitney

Stole this student profile idea from the internet, but tweaked it so that it's much more informative for me, plus it's an icebreaker for students the first day (they have to get 5 comments on their "status updates.") Might be helpful for the fish to make new friends. I'll keep it in each student's file all year and refer back to it as needed. I'll add writing samples and return them to students the last day of school along with a personalized by estela

lood and Drought Thinking Links Activity - King Virtue's Classroom Thinking Links are a great activity to use to see what students have learned! How do Thinking Links work? The students have to analyze each block and decide which ones go together. Then, students color-code the related blocks (the key is at the bottom). Last, the students have to explain their Thinking Links and tell how they came up with their answers. Interactive and engaging! Also, students love to color! :) by claudia

Picasso oil pastel by grAde 6 student. I love this each student was given a photocopy of a Picasso painting to observe and copy. The students did have an artistic license and were able to change things. They all enjoyed this task and all the work was good they then went on to make their own self portrait being inspired by this first piece. Art with Kylie Wickham by tanisha

They flip to a thumbs up if they have completed and turned in everything required. They have to flip their thumb down of they did not finish - they can write on their individual white boards what is missing, why, and whether or not they need help. I really like this. by gena
