Students were given the Great Painting Challenge! Students divided their papers with different organic black lines and then were asked to fill the shapes they made with different colors! They were given only the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and black and white. They had to make as many colors as possible, experimenting with shades (color + black) and tints (color + white). They could only use the same color twice and had to make enough by karen.x

3rd grade began their "shiny bright" Christmas ornaments. We traced the circles onto white paper, drew a highlight, then painted each circle to make a sphere using analogous colors. Analogous colors are beside each other in the color wheel and they blend beautifully! by olga

A fun sisterhood event. Bought the first letter of each girls name at Michaels along with different colored paint pens. The girls passed their letter to each other and they wrote something about their friend on their letter that described them. When they got their own letter back it made them talk and laugh and feel special. They even decided to write on the other side too. Then they each took their letter home as a party favor. They loved it! by rosella

The most wonderful gift I’ve ever given cost me almost nothing. I contacted friends and family members and asked them to send me memories and old pictures of my grandfather. Then I wrote one memory (or printed one picture)on each of 365 pieces of cardstock. I folded each in half and secured it with a bit of tape, then placed them all in a big jar I decorated. Every morning for the next year, my grandfather would take out a paper, open it, and see what other people cherished in him. He loved it. by aftr

Perfect for escort cards & place settings, these watercolor nametags are whimsical, fresh and simple to make! Start with cardstock trimmed to your desired size. Then, water down acrylic paint. Add more water or more paint to get your desired opacity. Using a paint brush, make rough strokes on the cardstock. After they dry, use a Micron pen to write your guest’s names. C'est magnifique! by marjorie

Snow Paint! Combine equal parts school glue and shaving cream. Cut out various snowy shapes from cardstock. Then, let the kiddos glop & smear their snowy paint all over. The paint itself has a neat texture, but the really cool part about "snow paint" is that it dries puffy with this very velvety/cottony texture. KINDERGARTEN SPECTRA! by MyohoDane

Allies seized around 80 different types of aircraft throughout Europe and then shipped them to Indiana, where they were flown, taken apart and then put back together. While many parts or planes were saved for museum displays, others were discarded - thrown into pits in the field and covered with tons of dirt. Picasso oil pastel by grAde 6 student. I love this each student was given a photocopy of a Picasso painting to observe and copy. The students did have an artistic license and were able to change things. They all enjoyed this task and all the work was good they then went on to make their own self portrait being inspired by this first piece. Art with Kylie Wickham by tanisha

Wood accent wall from 8' and 6' fencing purchased cheaply at Lowes. They brushed each piece with a grey stain, then white washed over each one. They used a different white wash ratio with each board to make each slightly unique ~ working the brush against the grain. After they were dry, they distressed additional boards using a chain and hammer. by violet

Students formed groups of three or four and collected their materials. Each group received a disposable plate with three sections. The sections were labeled “prefix,” “suffix,” and “root word.” Finally, groups were given a bag of big words. Teaching Main Idea: Students traced their hand on a piece of construction paper. I had them choose a page in the reading story for the week and write the main idea on the palm. Then details went on each finger. Again, I emphasized that we need all of our fingers so they needed to find that many details or the hand wouldn't work. by graciela

Bio-Poem on Ipad pattern .For our poetry unit I had my students make a bio-poem of themself. Then they typed the poem and each child created a screen saver on an Ipad pattern. We printed off "apps" and each child customized their Ipad . I created the Ipad pattern on word with the shape tools and printed it off. It looks like a real Ipad and the kids loved it. by laura

Simple Shape Book: We are working on basic shapes. My kids love two things: glue sticks and reading books. So, I combined their two loves by creating them a Simple Shape Book! They get to glue shapes into the book and then read it over and over again. Fun! Considering my kids have a pretty short attention span, I created the book with only three shapes. A circle, square and triangle. Can teach Colors and Shapes at the same time. by alberta
