NGC 602 in the Flying Lizard Nebula ~ Near the outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy some 200 thousand light-years distant, lies 5 million year young star cluster NGC 602. Surrounded by natal gas and dust, the cluster itself is about 200 light-years in diameter.
Astronomy Picture of the Day: 01/18/14 - Dancing Squid This is NGC 1760 (also known as N11 or the Dancing Squid nebula), one of the most massive, active star-forming regions located in our local corner of the universe. More specifically, this region belongs to the northern part of a neighboring dwarf-galaxy of the Milky Way; a little place you may know of as the Large Magellanic Cloud. The intricate network of interlinking cosmic
The star cluster Pismis 24 lies in the core of the large emission nebula NGC 6357 that extends one degree on the sky in the direction of the Scorpius constellation. Part of the nebula is ionised by the youngest (bluest) heavy stars in Pismis 24. The intense ultraviolet radiation from the blazing stars heats the gas surrounding the cluster and creates a bubble in NGC 6357. The presence of these surrounding gas clouds makes probing into the region even harder.

Star Cluster R136 ~ Huge cluster of the largest, hottest, most massive stars known. Located in the center of star-forming region 30 Doradus. 170,000 light-years away from Earth, within a neighboring galaxy known as the Large Magellanic Cloud. Image was captured in visible light by the Wide Field Camera of the Hubble Space Telescope in 2009.
NGC 2818 It may look like a seahorse, but the dark object is actually a pillar of smoky dust about 20 light-years long. The structure occurs in our neighbouring Large Magellanic Cloud, in a star-forming region near the Tarantula Nebula.

NGC 602 is a young, bright open cluster of stars located in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), a satellite galaxy to the Milky Way. Radiation and shock waves from the stars have pushed away much of the lighter surrounding gas and dust that compose the nebula known as N90, and this in turn has triggered new star formation in the ridges (or "elephant trunks") of the nebula.
NGC 4372 and the Dark Gossip |Dark Nebula lovely gossip drifts through the skies of the south, in the constellation La Mosca, and is a tempting target for binoculars. This cloud of dust is against the rich star fields just south of the outstanding Coalsack Nebula and the Southern Cross. In this scene, the Dark Gossip spans about 3 degrees and seems interrupted at the southern end (top left) by the globular star cluster NGC 4372, which hangs by the halo of the Milky Way and is a background ob...

Starburst Cluster NGC 1929 in the Large Magellanic Cloud This cluster is creating shockwave “superbubbles” that are triggering chain reactions of supernova explosions. This image is a composite of three light wavelengths, X-rays are represented as blue, visible light as yellow, and infra-red light as red.

It's the bubble versus the cloud. NGC 7635, the Bubble Nebula, is being pushed out by the stellar wind of massive central star BD+602522.
This photo, released by NASA and the European Space Agency to commemorate the Hubble Space Telescope’s completion of 100,000th orbit around the Earth in its 18th year of exploration and discovery, scientists have aimed Hubble to take a snapshot of a dazzling region of celestial birth and renewal. In the image, a small portion of the nebula star cluster NGC 2074, located 170,000 light-years away, can be observed.
Star-forming region NGC 3603 (Milky Way), about 20,000 ly away, contains a massive young star cluster, formed in a huge rush of star formation thought to have occurred about 1 Ma
#Hodge301 is a star cluster located in the #TarantulaNebula about 168,000 light years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud Galaxy. The Tarantula Nebula is a star forming region, fueled by the star clusters hidden inside. The stars of Hodge 301 formed tens of millions of years ago. The most massive quickly ran through their fuel and erupted into supernovae.
