Here is a Georgia State Trooper in riot gear at a KKK protest in a north Georgia city back in the 80s. The Trooper is black. Standing in front of him and touching his shield is a curious little boy dressed in a Klan hood and robe.
If you don't know what the '64 Senate fillibuster against the Civil Rights Act was, it was when KKK Member and Democrat U.S. Senator Robert Byrd (who served in the U.S. Senate through 2010) and Al Gore, Sr. fillibustered against the Civil Rights Act.
"On May 2, 1964 Charles Eddie Moore and Henry Hezekiah Dee were kidnapped and murdered by the KKK in Meadville, MS. Their bodies were found in July of that year during a search for civil rights workers Michael Schwerner, Andrew Goodman and James Chaney but no legal action was taken at that time. In 2004 Canadian filmmaker David Ridgen discovered a film clip of the bodies being recovered which led to the arrest and conviction of the murderer."
