Creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) is one tough plant. Able to thrive beneath the unrelenting sun of the Chihuahuan, Mojave, and Sonoran deserts, it flourishes where other arid land plants retreat. Historic uses of Larrea tridentata by 13 tribes of the desert southwest include medicinal use, building material, fiber, tools and weapons, musical instruments, and decoration – its charcoal produces a greenish blue color in tattoos. by cassandra

An enlarged central nurses’ station improves visibility and access to each patient room. TSA Architects (Salt Lake City) chose materials and colors that reflected the local landscape and its location at the foot of a mountain range. Colored stripes in the floor are used to reference water springs, alpine meadows, and wildflowers, while the decorative lightbox above the nurses’ station uses blue and white panels to resemble clouds in the sky.
