As much as it hurts to say this, I am realizing it is time to let go of some that I thought we would be friends for life. We have grown apart and doesn't seem like we are ever going to find the time to catch up or keep up with each other.. I wish you and your families the best. You were always such a great friend, moving was a hard decision but one I am glad I made. by littlemisstexas

"A Promise" | Loch Lomond, Scotland • "An early morning drive around Loch Lomond revealed a glimpse of the incredible beauty of the region. Coupled with a blood red sunrise and low lying mist, I wished that if there were only more time, I would be able to capture some more of its genteel landscapes. Instead, armed with a map, it was all guess work and a targeted approach in trying to find a location to best make the most of the sunrise. I’m happy to say that on this occasion it was a fruitful mission and we managed to enjoy two wonderful locations during our final landscape shoot of the trip. How often do we seem to experience great light and locations as soon as home beckons? Even the drive down from Ullapool was an exercise in frustration. All the mountains along the route were now covered in snow, the fire grasses thick with frost, the lakes giving off mirror like reflections, and the light glorious. Unfortunately, it was not possible to stop along the way and these beauties had to be experienced without a camera in hand. At the end of the day, I believe this is as it should be. Scotland showing itself at its best, teasing me, making me promise that I should return one day to deepen those scratches that I have made on its surface." by Kah Kit Yoong via 500px.com by jewell

I just realized... if the queen of Corona (Rapunzel's kingdom) and the former queen of Arendelle were in fact sisters, as is the common theory, then Elsa and Rapunzel would be essentially the exact same age! Rapunzel was 18 at the end of her movie, which was 3 years ago. 18+3=21. Elsa is 21 in Frozen, this year. These two really need to get together. They would get along so well! Best cousins ever! by graciela

The above picture is the one of the most striking photos LIPI members have taken. Some say they see a man standing at attention possibly raising his left arm (facing the camera) in a salute. Others say they see a man standing and holding something in his left hand out in front of him (a sword?). Still others they see the entire image as the face and neck of a woman with long hair. But, this second batch is ridiculous!! As they are a raw kind of hedgehog slice, they're not a really a brownie, but man, are they goooood? They are full of some of the very best ingredients and without any sugar, dairy, eggs or gluten! If you'd like me to share this by maribel

The Whale… If you read a recent front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallon Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around as she was thanking them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth said her eyes were following him the whole time, and he will never be the same. by Paki Maui

Purcell's department store in downtown Lexington at 320 W. Main St., Nov. 5, 1967. Purcell's, which opened in 1887 as a 5 &10 called the Racket Store, originally was located on the north side of West Main Street. In 1923, its founder, Jefferson Davis Purcell, bought property on the south side and opened a department store at 320 W. Main St. It was later enlarged. In its heyday, during the 1940s and '50s, Purcell's was not only one of Lexington's busiest, but one of its most colorful department stores. Customers often bypassed the crowded elevator so they would not miss anything on display in the store's 22 departments. It was one of the first in the city to have a live Santa Claus and strolling carolers at Christmas. At one time, the store carried 75,000 charge accounts, said Stanhope Wiedemann, president and CEO of the department store his grandfather founded. Among the many promotions it sponsored were embroidery and meat-carving schools and a table-setting contest. In 1951, at the request of a Lexington man, employees boxed the man up in a crate and delivered him, engagement ring in hand, to his girlfriend's home. She accepted. In 1970, after several stores left downtown, Purcell's closed. The building was razed in 1980 to make way for the $50 million Vine Plaza, which includes the Radisson Hotel and parking garage.
