A stone head that was found “somewhere in the Guatemalan jungle” and, soon after its discovery, disappeared. The photo above was taken in the 1950s by the man who owned the land the head was located on, but after he died, the mysterious structure faded back into obscurity. While the head is theorized to potentially be an anomaly of the Olmec stone heads (it does not match their aesthetic), some think it could possibly be a remnant of a yet undiscovered culture. by freda

Although it looks somewhat antebellum at  first, it's not really that old (it was actually built  around 1900).  It had been sitting empty for decades when this photo was taken. Stuart Lewis-Evans was an up and coming racing driver and good friend of the young Stirling Moss, this image was taken in September 1953 when Stuart was just 23 years old and it shows him unloading his Cooper 500 Formula 3 racing car at the Crystal Palace race circuit in South London – from the roof of a Series 1 Land Rover. Interestingly, Land Rover was only 5 years old at the time but as you can see – people had already begun finding novel uses for them. by stephanii
