SKINNY MULTIPURPOSE SHREDDED CHICKEN I find myself using recipes that call for shredded chicken at least 1-2 times each week. For that reason I always cook up a large batch of shredded chicken in my slow-cooker every Sunday and then store it in the refrigerator or freezer to use at a later date. Doing this will save you time but will also make last-minute dinners a breeze as you already have the cooked poultry on hand. It is always much easier to eat and cook healthy when you plan ahead. by arlene

1. Drink one glass of water every hour. It will make you feel full. 2. Drink ice cold water. Your body will burn calories just getting the water to a normal temperature to digest. Also it is great for your complexion. 3. Drink 3 cups of green tea daily. It will help boost your metabolism, plus its anti-oxidants make your skin look great. 4. Take vitamins daily. Do not take vitamins on an empty stomache, otherwise they have nothing to catalyze with. 5. Eat ice or gum when hungry. This will make your body think it had food without the calories. 6. Eat spicy foods. They raise your metabolism. 7. Take cold showers because your body will burn calories to heat you back up. 8. Brush your teeth so you won’t be tempted to eat afterwards. 9. Wear a rubberband around your wrist. Snap it when you want to eat. 10. Use smaller plates and utensils so it seems like you ate more. 11. Chew each bite of food thoroughly and then take a sip of water between bites. You will feel full quicker and will not eat as much. 12. Sleep at least six hours a day. If you get less than six this can lower your metabolism by 15%. 13. If you start to feel hungry do sit ups. 14. Pamper yourself! Give yourself a facial, paint your nails, anything to make you feel pretty. 15. Keep track of everything you eat to manage your weight better. 16. Keep good posture, burns 10% more calories when you sit up straight. 17. Make a list of all the “bad” foods that you crave and tend to binge on. Each day, pick one to take out of your diet that you cannot eat again. Take one off the list each day until there are no more bad foods you can have. 17. Avoid alcohol! A shot of liquor has 100-120 calories, a glass of wine has 80 calories, a lite beer has 110-120 calories, and a regular beer has 140-170 calories. 18. Avoid eating anything bigger than about a cup, your stomach will expand and then you’ll get hungry more. 19. The smell of coffee is thought to supress appetite. 20. Wear applied lip gloss. It makes you more aware of what’s going in your mouth. Also, flavored ones may help with cravings. 21. Have 6 small meals a day. 22. Low calorie hot chocolate curbs chocolate cravings, and makes you feel full. 23. Take a picture of yourself wearing a bathing suit or something equally important to you, look at it before you want to eat. 24. It takes 20 minutes for the brain to realize the stomach is full. 25. Eat lots of fiber. It makes you feel full and takes fat with it out of your body. The natural cleansing helps improve both your energy level and overall feeling of wellness. 26. Before you dig into that cake, bag of chips, candy, or whatever, take a deep breath and count to 100. Usually by the time you get to 100 you will have coninced yourself that you don’t really want it. 27. Celery actually burns calories. Every hour eat a stalk of it. Not only will it fill you up, but it will also get your metabolism kickin’. 28. Read the nutritional information. Remember, fat-free does not mean calorie-free. 29. Keep an eye on fiber content. Get as much fiber into your diet as you can, while cutting fat and calories. 30. Don’t eat a lot at once. Spread your food throughout the day. This will help to avoid binging and keep your metabolism going. 31. Avoid alchohol. 32. Do not eat in front of the computer or TV. This distracts you from recognizing you’re full. 33. Stay away from Slim-fast and other so-called “healthy” candy bars and shakes… one look at the nutition facts will tell you why. Save yourself the money, and the calories. Buy yourself some flowers instead -- they make you happy. 34. When having cravings try drinking a tall, icy glass of water with slices of lemons or oranges -- sometimes what you think is hunger is really thirst. 35. Remember, an occasional binge doesn’t hurt, in fact it’s quite beneficial if you have reached a plateau (stopped losing weight). Just don’t binge too regularly! and finally, 36. Invest in some pure essential oils from the health food store – Next, disinfect and deodorize your washing machine so that your clothes will not absorb a lingering musty smell. You can do this pretty easily by pouring two cups of vinegar into your machine, and run a full cycle — without any clothes or detergent. If your water is very dirty, let the agitator run for 8-10 minutes, open the lid and let the vinegar sit overnight. In the morning, empty the basin and run the washer through a complete cycle with two cups of vinegar. Do this every six months to eliminate soap scum, and musty smells. Basic soaps: Stock your laundry room with Borax, Epsom Salts, distilled white vinegar (not apple cider vinegar), and for tough stains, plain, unscented Tide Detergent and Oxy Clean. If you have a high efficiency washer, skip the Borax and buy only the unscented HE deterge rent powder. Borax creates too much “suds,” the major failure of HE washers. Scent your laundry: Open your jug of distilled white vinegar, and drop in 30-40 drops of your favorite essential oil. French laundry mistresses have used lavender for centuries. Let the oils permeate the vinegar for about a week before using. Open your box of Borax, (or HE detergent if you have an HE washer) and pour the powder into a clean empty container with a lid. (An empty oxy-clean bucket will work.) Drop 20-30- drops of essential oils into the Borax, and stir thoroughly to mix the scents. Cover and let the scents mix for about a week before using. Basic laundry soap: If you have a regular top loading washer (one that doesn’t require HE soap), for each load, add ½ of the amount of detergent you usually use, combined with the other half of Borax. If I’m washing whites, I’ll also add a ½ cup of oxy clean. (Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and deodorizer.) Add 1/2 cup of scented vinegar to each load along with the detergent. It fights germs, keeps your colors from bleeding, and deodorizers your laundry. Use your scented vinegar in place of your fabric softener in the Rinse Cycle to eliminate static cling, remove pet hair and complete dissolve and rinse away soap. To get REALLY white whites – -try this. Fill your washing machine with hot water and one or two cups of oxy clean. Add your laundry and let the machine agitate. Then, lift the lid and let the laundry soak in the oxy clean water overnight. In the morning, let the wash run itself through. Buy some doggie toys at the grocery store — the kind with balls and pokey things, for about $1.00. Use those as dryer balls (that sell for about $20). They do help lift the laundry and help things dry faster — I also throw one in the washer. Ring around the color: Make a paste with 2 parts white vinegar to 3 parts baking soda, and let set for 20-30 minutes. Picked up a plastic-coated wire and made a new clothesline. Sleeping on a pillow line-dried in fresh air is as warm and cozy as a chocolate chip cookie. If you haven’t indulged in this little luxury lately, I think it’s time you tried it again – if your local authorities will allow it. by wendi

How to use beauty blender: I run one under luke warm water (not hot/not cold) till it gets darker pink then squeeze out the water until the Blender isnt dripping. I try to squeeze out as much water as possible! It will double in size when wet. I prefer using it wet because it soaks up less of your foundation and helps blend better. Then i apply dots of foundations evenly all over my face then go in with the blender and press lightly to blend. The finish is FLAWLESS which is why i love it so by fashion clothing

I've made this.., it turned out pretty good although I like my wine sweet, great conversation starter when you have guests over, Let them try a glass and see what they think. ~ Making homemade wine from grape  juice is quite simple, and requires very inexpensive supplies. The following is a step-by-step on making homemade wine from frozen non-citrus juice concentrates. The neat thing about making wine from concentrates is the consistency of the flavor, and the variety of tasty wines you can produce. Local markets stock a great variety of frozen juice concentrates these days that can make a delicious inexpensive wine. For a red wine choose purple grape, pomegranate, cherry or strawberry juice, and for a white wine choose a white grape, pineapple, mango or apple juice. Frozen juice wines taste very good and mature with pretty high alcohol content for just a few dollars a bottle. With the many new flavors on the shelves, you could try several blends for a wonderful and tasty wine- yum… Gather all these ingredients: 3 cups white granulated sugar 1 packet bread-making yeast 1 can frozen juice concentrate (non-citrus) Water Clean gallon jug Balloon Rubber band Small funnel Follow these simple steps: Defrost the frozen juice by letting the container sit in a bowl of warm water for an hour. Purify a gallon milk jug with bleach and rinse very well. Pour the yeast, sugar and concentrated juice into the milk jug with the funnel. Shake the ingredients together. Fill the rest of the milk jug with warm (not hot!) water. This will activate the yeast. Put the lid on the jug and shake the ingredients together. Then take off the lid. Slide the balloon over the top of the milk jug and wrap the rubber band around the neck of the milk jug and the balloon to secure the balloon through the fermentation and wine-making process. Set the wine in a dark, warm place, at around 70 degrees. The balloon will fill with gases as the juice ferments. This is how you know the process is working. After three to 6 weeks the balloon will deflate and the process is complete. If you see sediment that you would rather not keep, pour your homemade wine into a bottle using a small funnel and a coffee filter to clarify- enjoy by rachelle

If you see sediment that you would rather not keep, pour your homemade wine into a bottle using a small funnel and a coffee filter to clarify- enjoy

Without a doubt, one of the best things I ever did for my skin was to start making my own scrubs. The stuff at the store is chock full of stuff that's bad for your skin - all sorts of chemicals and alcohol. Yuck. Do your skin a favor... Go out and buy a mason jar. Add coarse sea salt, olive oil, almond oil, and if you can find it - jojoba oil. Use daily. Love your skin again. I add the olive oil and jojoba oil first to the salt and then add as much almond oil as I need to make it smell great. W by allie

DATE A GIRL WHO READS
by Rosemarie Urquico

Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes. by artsuneel

Let It Be Christmas!
This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find … themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. … they mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated. Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal. Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? … Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?” Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe … life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path. by nelda
