Baking Soda and Vinegar aka Old Faithful • baking soda • vinegar • spoons • clear cups or containers (clear cups were fun to use but you can use whatever you have on hand - even muffin tins) • food coloring - optional •*I recommend a tray to hold any spills - it helps minimize the mess!* by Maiden11976

To get rid of any carpet stains... Love this cleaning idea, I have been using it for a while now but I don't vacuum the baking soda up just use the liquid solution first, then sprinkle the baking soda on the stain liberally, wait for it to dry on its own and then vacuum..... stain mysteriously disappears by simona.

how to clean VERY smelly shoes ... spray inside with alcohol ... let dry for 24 hours ... put baking soda in 'foot' of panty hose & let sit in DRY shoes for at least another 24 hours ... then to keep fresh smell, re-insert baking soda stockings for shoe storage ... this had better work because the SMELL of my teenage sons shoes is MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE! by harriet

Over time, towels build up detergent and fabric softener, leaving them unable to absorb as much water and smelling funky. Recharge them by washing them once with hot water and one cup vinegar, then a second time with hot water and a half cup of baking soda. This strips the residue and leaves them fresh and able to absorb more water again. by mmonet
