A dolmen, also known as a portal tomb, portal grave, or quoit, is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb, usually consisting of three or more upright stones supporting a large flat horizontal capstone. Most date from the early Neolithic period (4000 to 3000 BCE). Dolmens were usually covered with earth or smaller stones to form a barrow, though in many cases that covering has weathered away, leaving only the stone "skeleton" of the burial mound intact. by Hercio Dias

Printed linen bedgown, 1760-70, Chesire: Bedgowns were very simple items of clothing, cut in a flaring T-shape like kimonos, and often without any fastenings or belts as they were wrapped around the body and tied in place at the waist by an apron. Despite their name they were not worn in bed, but were short practical jackets worn primarily by country women. They were used for working in the home or outdoors, worn with sturdy woollen skirts, by jocelyn

Brigandine, leather, Paris, late 1400's | Flickr. Unlike armour for the torso made from large plates, the brigandine was flexible, with a degree of movement between each of the overlapping plates. The rivets, or nails, attaching the plates to the fabric were often decorated, being gilt, or of latten, and sometimes embossed with a design. Medieval brigandines were essentially a refinement of the earlier coat of plates, which developed in the late 12th century. by maude

Cowboy Beans | Plain Chicken - No BBQ is complete without some baked beans. These baked beans are one of the best we've ever made. I made these beans to go with our BBQ Ranch Pulled Pork. They were dynamite! They were sweet, smoky and tangy all at once. This is a great dish for a crowd. You can make them ahead of time and reheat them or even make them in the crockpot. I used bacon in the beans. by Sammie Jo

Using Mod Podge, a glue gun and white glue, we began to apply layers of papers and trims to our bottles. We continued to apply buttons, charms and other dimensional objects (even porcelain poodles!) until our bottles seemed to be complete. We marveled at how quickly they all came together… the bottles you see here were created in just one very magical day. When our bottles were finished, we filled some with “fairy dust”, (a combination of clear glitters and sand), beads, interesting old buttons or paper flowers. Some of us tucked little messages inside, curling up a little piece of paper and tying thin silver cording ‘round it. by kendra

The eighteenth century monied male was often a peacock, eager to display his taste and wealth, and fond of lavishly decorated or patterned fabrics, and bright striking colours. The usual outfit remained the three piece suit of coat, waistcoat and breeches until 1800, when trousers began to replace breeches. Fashionable suits were usually plain woollen facecloth for practical urban or rural wear; woven silks for more formal evening occasions; and highly trimmed and embroidered silk satins and velvets for court wear. Waistcoats were sleeved until the 1740s, then sleeveless as today, and they were often embroidered to match the coat. Looser banyans or gowns were worn for relaxing in the home, when the wig would be replaced by a comfortable "nightcap". Working men wore jackets and waistcoats of hard-wearing fustian (cotton and linen mix) or wool, with breeches of leather or later cheap cotton corduroy, "thicksett" or velveret. by leona
