Draw a bird's wing, brake it down into four levels of feathers, and make cardboard templates for tracing onto the foam. The craft foam is very easy to work with, and take colour from pencil crayons and paint beautifully. cut a strip of felt with scalloping shears to cover the top edges of the foam, then totally smeared the felt with sparkle paint so it wouldn't get fuzzy or fray. by wildisthewind

No weaving is needed to make this wooden catchall. Draw a hexagon with 4 1/4-inch sides onto cardboard and cut it out (or use our template below). Glue a stick to every other side. Overlap the ends of three more craft sticks with those of the first three, gluing to secure. Continue in this way until you reach the height you like. by selma

Kids embroidery. Have your child draw a rainbow (or whatever...) directly onto the embroider linen with felt tipped markers markers. Show how to embroider and let him/her sew - (the most difficult part of the process is bringing the needle up from the back in the correct position to form the next stitch. It takes patience, practice and, most likely, guidance...) by matilda

Way cool! This is done with wood (guessing) but you could paint cardboard white and bend it in this same fashion. You could secure it to the ceiling with fishing line. Use thin foam board to make the small coasters and print pics of cartoon children on coasters and paste them to foam board. by hilda

Melted crayon art. My daughter loves princesses, but I didn't want her room too "Disney-ish" so I googled "princess silhouettes" and printed the pictures from my printer. I took the printed image and cut it out of contact paper. Next, on the canvases, I stuck down the image, hot glued the crayons to the top and melted the crayons all the way to the bottom, peeled off the contact paper and was left with the silhouette. I had to touch up some edges with white paint, but they turned out well. by marylou

I found online Disney clip art for Mickey's shoes, shorts, and glove, printed it out, and traced it onto felt. I couldn't find a picture of Mickey's hat without Mickey's ears getting in the way, so I kinda had to wing it there (I think it worked). After cutting out the felt shapes, I embroidered detail lines on each ornament, cut out a second piece of felt for the backing, sandwiched the hanger loop in between, and glued them together. by wendi

I made a chalkboard table! So easy! Only part I hated was waiting for 3 days before we could draw on it. But I just taped paper over top and let my son loose with his crayons until the table was ready. It really is easy! Sand, paint (I used coffee colored chalkboard paint), sand again, wipe, condition (rub chalk all over it to completely cover it) and wipe again. Then draw! Have fun! by shari
