25 Manners Kids Should Know #1: When asking for something, say "Please." #2: When receiving something, say "Thank you." #3: Do not interrupt grown-ups who are speaking with each other unless there is an emergency. They will notice you and respond when they are finished talking. #4: If you do need to get somebody's attention right away, the phrase "excuse me" is the most polite way for you to enter the conversation. #5: When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. It can save you from many hours of grief later. #6: The world is not interested in what you dislike. Keep negative opinions to yourself, or between you and your friends, and out of earshot of adults. #7: Do not comment on other people's physical characteristics unless, of course, it's to compliment them, which is always welcome. #8: When people ask you how you are, tell them and then ask them how they are. #9: When you have spent time at your friend's house, remember to thank his or her parents for having you over and for the good time you had. #10: Knock on closed doors -- and wait to see if there's a response -- before entering. #11: When you make a phone call, introduce yourself first and then ask if you can speak with the person you are calling. #12: Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive. In the age of e-mail, a handwritten thank-you note can have a powerful effect. #13: Never use foul language in front of adults. Grown-ups already know all those words, and they find them boring and unpleasant. #14: Don't call people mean names. #15: Do not make fun of anyone for any reason. Teasing shows others you are weak, and ganging up on someone else is cruel. #16: Even if a play or an assembly is boring, sit through it quietly and pretend that you are interested. The performers and presenters are doing their best. #17: If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me." #18: Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and don't pick your nose in public. #19: As you walk through a door, look to see if you can hold it open for someone else. #20: If you come across a parent, a teacher, or a neighbor working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so -- you may learn something new. #21: When an adult asks you for a favor, do it without grumbling and with a smile. #22: When someone helps you, say "thank you." That person will likely want to help you again. This is especially true with teachers! #23: Use eating utensils properly. If you are unsure how to do so, ask your parents to teach you or watch what adults do. #24: Keep a napkin on your lap; use it to wipe your mouth when necessary. #25: Don't reach for things at the table; ask to have them passed. by Maiden11976

Keep good posture, burns 10% more calories when you sit up straight. 17. Make a list of all the “bad” foods that you crave and tend to binge on. Each day, pick one to take out of your diet that you cannot eat again. Take one off the list each day until there are no more bad foods you can have. 17. Avoid alcohol! Usually by the time you get to 100 you will have coninced yourself that you don’t really want it. 27. Celery actually burns calories. Every hour eat a stalk of it. Not only will it fill you up, but it will also get your metabolism kickin’. 28. Read the nutritional information. Remember, fat-free does not mean calorie-free. 29. Keep an eye on fiber content. This will help to avoid binging and keep your metabolism going. 31. Avoid alchohol. 32. Do not eat in front of the computer or TV. This distracts you from recognizing you’re full. 33. Stay away from Slim-fast and other so-called “healthy” candy bars and shakes… one look at the nutition facts will tell you why. Save yourself the money, and the calories. Buy yourself some flowers instead -- they make you happy. 34. When having cravings try drinking a tall, icy glass of water with slices of lemons or oranges -- sometimes what you think is hunger is really thirst. 35. Do I look weak to you, fragile and broken? I'm the strongest person you will ever meet. You all would break if you went through what I did day in and day out. None of you have what it takes to survive a battle against yourself, against those who you loved. If you walked in my shoes, you'd scoff at the thought of this girl being anything close to fragile. by Dee-Lanya

Use ice trays to make your dishwasher cubes. You can find cheap ones at at your local dollar stores. If you have a Dollar Tree they have them there. They are horrible for ice making as they don't stack. But great for this, and only a dollar for 2 trays. You will need 4-8 depending how much soap you desire to make at a time. I make a double or triple batch sometimes. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THEM FOR ICE MAKING EVER AGAIN! So don't use your good ice trays. Dedicate ice trays solely for this. by simone

A FATHER'S LOVE: YOU ARE VALUABLE TO HIM! Often times we forget our worth and doubt ourselves. If we doubt ourselves are we doubting the very One who created us as well? What is the price of five sparrows-- two copper coins? Yet God DOES NOT FORGET a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid, YOU ARE MORE VALUABLE to God than a whole flock of sparrows (Luke 12:6-7). You (God) watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Everyday of my life was recorded in Your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are Your THOUGHTS about me, O God. They CANNOT be NUMBERED! I CAN'T even COUNT THEM; they OUTNUMBER the GRAINS of SAND! And when I wake up, you are STILL with me (Psalm 139:15-18). He knows the depths of our hearts! He loves us in spite of what we have done and said! But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). HE VALUES YOU! HE LOVES YOU! HE LOVES US IN SPITE OF YOUR PAST! AS LONG AS THERE IS BREATH IN YOUR BODY, IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO REPENT AND TURN TO JESUS CHRIST! WE CANNOT FATHOM THE LOVE HE HAS FOR US! I have been walked out on, used and forgotten and I don’t regret one moment of it because in those moments, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned who I can trust and can’t. I’ve learned the meaning of friendship. I’ve learned how to tell when people are lying and when they’re sincere. I’ve learned how to be a teenager, and how to grow up when I need to. I’ve been to hell and back a few times, and I won’t ever take what I have for granted.this is life, live it one day at a time. You never know how... by liz

At an airport I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together. They had announced her plane’s departure and standing near the door, he said to his daughter, “I love you, I wish you enough.”She said, “Daddy, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Daddy.” They kissed good-bye and she left.He walked over toward the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, “Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?” “Yes, I have,” I replied. Saying that brought back memories I had of expressing my love and appreciation for all my Dad had done for me. Recognizing that his days were limited, I took the time to tell him face to face how much he meant to me. So I knew what this man was experiencing. “Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?” I asked. “I am old and she lives much too far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is, her next trip back will be for my funeral, ” he said. “When you were saying good-bye I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough.’ May I ask what that means?” He began to smile. “That’s a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.” He paused for a moment and looking up as if trying to remember it in detail, he smiled even more. “When we said ‘I wish you enough,’ we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with enough good things to sustain them,” he continued and then turning toward me he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory. “I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish enough “Hello’s” to get you through the final “Good-bye.” He then began to sob and walked away. Author Unknown by Caiteyb

From the source of the picture, the blogger writes: The founder of the gulabis is the fearless Sampat Pal Devi, 40, who was married off at the age of 12 to an ice-cream vendor and had the first of her five children at 15. The gulabis, whose members say they are a “gang for justice,” started in 2006 as a sisterhood of sorts that looked out for victims of domestic abuse, a problem the United Nations estimates affects two in three married Indian women. Named after their hot-pink sari uniforms, the gang paid visits to abusive husbands and demanded they stop the beatings. When obstinate men refused to listen, the gulabis would return with large bamboo sticks called laathis and “persuade” them to change their ways. “When I go around with a stick, it’s to make men fear me. I don’t always use it, but it helps change the mind of men who think they are more powerful than me” says Pal. She has assumed the rank of commander in chief and has appointed district commanders across seven districts in Bundelkhand to help coordinate the gang’s efforts. Pal’s group now has more than 20,000 members, and the number is growing. As an Canadian, I know I have no right to ever comment on another’s culture. But as a human being, this is one of the most bad ass things I’ve seen and read. by joann

DATE A GIRL WHO READS
by Rosemarie Urquico

Date a girl who reads. Date a girl who spends her money on books instead of clothes. She has problems with closet space because she has too many books. Date a girl who has a list of books she wants to read, who has had a library card since she was twelve.

Find a girl who reads. You’ll know that she does because she will always have an unread book in her bag. She’s the one lovingly looking over the shelves in the bookstore, the one who quietly cries out when she finds the book she wants. You see the weird chick sniffing the pages of an old book in a second hand book shop? That’s the reader. They can never resist smelling the pages, especially when they are yellow.

She’s the girl reading while waiting in that coffee shop down the street. If you take a peek at her mug, the non-dairy creamer is floating on top because she’s kind of engrossed already. Lost in a world of the author’s making. Sit down. She might give you a glare, as most girls who read do not like to be interrupted. Ask her if she likes the book.

Buy her another cup of coffee.

Let her know what you really think of Murakami. See if she got through the first chapter of Fellowship. Understand that if she says she understood James Joyce’s Ulysses she’s just saying that to sound intelligent. Ask her if she loves Alice or she would like to be Alice.

It’s easy to date a girl who reads. Give her books for her birthday, for Christmas and for anniversaries. Give her the gift of words, in poetry, in song. Give her Neruda, Pound, Sexton, Cummings. Let her know that you understand that words are love. Understand that she knows the difference between books and reality but by god, she’s going to try to make her life a little like her favorite book. It will never be your fault if she does.

She has to give it a shot somehow.

Lie to her. If she understands syntax, she will understand your need to lie. Behind words are other things: motivation, value, nuance, dialogue. It will not be the end of the world.

Fail her. Because a girl who reads knows that failure always leads up to the climax. Because girls who understand that all things will come to end. That you can always write a sequel. That you can begin again and again and still be the hero. That life is meant to have a villain or two.

Why be frightened of everything that you are not? Girls who read understand that people, like characters, develop. Except in the Twilight series.

If you find a girl who reads, keep her close. When you find her up at 2 AM clutching a book to her chest and weeping, make her a cup of tea and hold her. You may lose her for a couple of hours but she will always come back to you. She’ll talk as if the characters in the book are real, because for a while, they always are.

You will propose on a hot air balloon. Or during a rock concert. Or very casually next time she’s sick. Over Skype.

You will smile so hard you will wonder why your heart hasn’t burst and bled out all over your chest yet. You will write the story of your lives, have kids with strange names and even stranger tastes. She will introduce your children to the Cat in the Hat and Aslan, maybe in the same day. You will walk the winters of your old age together and she will recite Keats under her breath while you shake the snow off your boots.

Date a girl who reads because you deserve it. You deserve a girl who can give you the most colorful life imaginable. If you can only give her monotony, and stale hours and half-baked proposals, then you’re better off alone. If you want the world and the worlds beyond it, date a girl who reads.

Or better yet, date a girl who writes. by artsuneel

This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find … themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. … they mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated. Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal. Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? … Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?” Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe … life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path. by nelda
