New year = new you!  Sparkle and shine for a fete that’s finer then fine this New Year’s Eve.  Expect jaws to drop (along with the ball) while you ring in 2012.  Get inspired by over-the-top glitz and glam for a decadent DIY stunner. Re-purpose brooches in your jewelry box, or pick up a few at flea markets or on eBay.To create, pin several brooches, arranged in a bib-like formation onto a piece of felt. Outline the bib shape with chalk and cut out around the brooches.  You may need to sew a few stitches on the backside of the felt if brooches are weighing down the fabric, as you want them to lay flat.  Flip over necklace base and sew a chain onto the back. Use a new chain or opt for one from an old necklace for an extra special touch.P.S.- Here’s to a happy, healthy & crafty 2012! by DaisyCombridge

Irena Sendler 1910-2008

A 98 year-old Polish woman named Irena Sendler recently died. During WWII, Irena worked in the Warsaw Ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist. Irena smuggled Jewish children out; infants in the bottom of the tool box she carried and older children in a burlap sack she carried in the back of her truck.

She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids’ and infants’ noises. Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 children. She eventually was caught, and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar buried under a tree in her backyard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and reunited some of the families. Most had been killed. She helped those children get placement into foster family homes or adopted.

Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won - for a slide show on Global Warming by christa

Sony has been developing PlayStation games and consoles since 1994, when it first released the PlayStation in Japan. Since then, PlayStation has gone under a few major changes and redesigns, progressing through the PS2 to the PS3, and now the new PS4 will be released in December 2013. The new Dualshock Controller will have a touch pad and a movement sensor – brand new features added on to the classic PlayStation controller that we all know and love! The PlayStation controller has been black since the PlayStation 2 console released in 2000, and it looks like the new PlayStation controller will follow that trend. The first PlayStation controller that was completely wireless came out in 2006 with the PlayStation 3, and the new controller will also be wireless too – a common trend for all gaming consoles in our modern technology! The top selling PS3 game sold over 7.3 million units – Gran Turismo 5! Will a new Gran Turismo come out soon for the PlayStation 4? Since it was originally released, the PlayStation console sold 120.49 million consoled, the PlayStation 2 console sold 150 million units, and the PlayStation 3 console sold 57 million units. This new console releasing in 2013 may be what PlayStation needs to bring their sales back up with a new console, better features, faster hardware, and top of the line technology. by vibrantyouthe4

Hey all,My name is Jenn…  I’m the creator of the “Big Is Beauty Project” on Youtube.I took this picture about a year ago, right after I had surgery.I took it to prove a point.  If someone of say, a size 2 were to have taken this picture - it would be beautiful and artistic.  If someone of my size takes a picture like this, nothing but negative comments are written about it.  Is this right?  No.  It’s not.  Who are you to tell me I can’t be beautiful and artistic? Don’t be afraid of what others have to say.  If you like your body and want to share it with the world - GO RIGHT AHEAD!!!!Get to know someone before you judge them.  You have no right making other people feel like crap just because you don’t like the way they look.I struggled with body image my entire life, and just recently over the past few years have come to terms with the size of my body. It is possible to love your body, yet hate it at the same time.  But, when the hate starts overpowering the love - you need to make a change.  You can either try and change how you look, and transform your body into something that you’ll adore…  Or, you can learn to accept and love the body that life has given you. You’ll never be perfect.  Nobody is perfect.  Nobody can say that they love absolutely everything about themselves.  Learn to take something negative, and change it into something positive.t’s okay to be fat.
