When my husband Dave and I bought our first house this past July, there was an 8'x10' wooden shed in the backyard. It was pretty standard--the type you can buy at Home Depot or Lowe's. I'm an artist by trade, so soon after moving in we got to work on converting the wood shed into a studio. This was a project far outside of my knowledge base, so I turned to the internet and my friends for A LOT of help along the way. Although my husband and I had no experience in any sort of house-building, dr... by VenusV

Been wanting to do this project for a couple of years - finally got around to it. They are all 1/4" ply and 1x1's for the column and 3/4" ply trim. 90% of the wood i had in my garage from other projects. Gargoyles are from Target (the project started with them), and the lanterns from Home Depot. Followed Terra's painting techniques for tombstones. The shorter ones go in between my sections of fence. by phyllis

Prove It Key Rings for Guided Reading Groups I got this ridiculously good idea from Joanne over at Head Over Heels for Teaching! I made a bulletin board out of the posters and six key rings to use for my guided reading groups. While I'm not having GRG I put them inside the supply caddies and the students are using them all the time! by janine

DIY: We have outdated hardware all throughout our home since our house was built in the mid 90's. We are on a budget, so a handy friend of mine told me to spray paint everything. The guy at Home Depot recommended this spray paint, and to use steel wool on the metal to help with saturation. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up with wear and tear, but for now I'm impressed! by agnes

Just used this for repainting a table. No sanding needed. Use a cloth to rub on, and it takes off gloss and makes a rough surface for paint to adhere to. Worked great. Was easy and fast. Got it at Home Depot for less than $7. by maria.t.rogers
