You might have noticed that I've been posting a little less than usual the last couple of weeks. My freelance graphic design work is really keeping me busy and I just haven't had the time to blog. I'm still sneaking in a little bit of sewing and instagramming. Even though I'm busy with work, I still want to do some DIY, so super quick and easy projects are the order of the day. Today, I have a little DIY inspiration for a simple dress, perfect for the approaching Fall season. You're thinking about your Fall wardrobe too, right? I can't wait! by effie

Double sided Yo-Yo Tutorial. gathering on both sides. the hole goes right thru the middle. uses a rectangle so no waste as with the usual circle yoyos. heck, you could even sew scraps into long strips to make these little beauties. they'd be cute dangling off a Christmas tree or in front of a window or over a babies cot. they'd still look cute spinning round and round. the pix i chose shows both sides are gathered. check out the website tutorial. :) by kristy

These Feed Wanda Watermelon Sensory Bin Activities are a GREAT addition to any Watermelon, or Picnic themed unit that you are working on in your classroom. There are so many ways to use this Feed Wanda Set. I have left it very open ended so that you can target the skills you need to target in a small group setting. I have also included instruction cards for each set so that you can set the activity up as an independent center, and/or sensory bin activity. There are two sets included: one foc by jaclyn

Every year on the first day of school since they started kindergarten, I have given my kids "magic jelly beans". Red to make a new friend. Orange to be courageous. Yellow to learn something new. Green to have fun. Blue to remember that I love you. They are grown now. Two in high school. Two in middle school. But they still get magic jelly beans on the first day. Because they really seem to work! by bette

“I don’t joke when I say she is my better half. She truly is. I cannot believe what a fantastic life I have today. But here’s the thing, she didn’t change me at all. She just gave me an ultimatum at a certain point. Ultimately, we both changed a lot so that now I can’t ever imagine a life before her. I’ve certainly come to believe that Mrs. Downey and I together are definitely better than me alone or me and anybody else.” by shelly

Self-respect. Sometimes you have to try not to care, no matter how much you do, because sometimes you can mean nothing to someone who means so much to you. It's not pride. It's self-respect. I am different. "If you knew me in the past, please do not think that I am the same person that you are meeting today. I have experienced more of life, I have encountered new depths in those I love, I have suffered and prayed and I am different." by edwina

It's a funny thing being a veteran blogger - I get asked almost daily how to start a website. I honestly love helping people get started and am truly fascinated at the potential that is available to each an every one of us via a simple little website/blog. In a lot of ways the playing field has been leveled with big media companies and bloggers. You and I now have the ability to reach just as many (if not more) readers than big media sites with our humble little blogs.... by graciela

These are a great idea for a party. Which is what I should have made them for. Because the recipe makes A LOT. And they are so rich and cheesy that even the hungriest of men can eat two max. Unfortunately, I made them out of the blue for my roommate and I and ended up shoving them at people at school to EAT THEM. Side note: they are a bit buttery/oily, so be sure to have napkins nearby. by patricé

Studying in college can be a bit challenging at first – parents and teachers generally don’t tell you how, when, and where you should study, and the format of college exams can be a bit different than you’re used to (read: less multiple choice and more short answer). Since I want all of you Swirl readers to kick butt on your college exams, I’ve combed through Pinterest to find the best tips and tricks from some of my favorite bloggers. by tammie

When I taught school, I would often eat these Cottage Cheese and Egg Breakfast Muffins with Ham and Cheddar in the car on the way to school! These have a tiny bit of flour, so they're different than egg muffins made with all egg. Imagine a biscuit married an omelet and they had a child, but the child got a few more omelet genes than biscuit genes; that's what these muffins are like. The wonderful thing about grays is that they go well together.  From gray greens, to blues to lavenders to beiges, all the grayed down tones of these colors are so easy on the eye and so neutral you really can use se different shades and still create flow in your home.   Because you already have beige on some of the walls in your home, a gray beige (or greige) may be a good choice. by MyohoDane
