Dunskey Castle, Mull of Galloway, Scotland. A mile past Portpatrick, it's on an outcrop jutting towards the North Channel of the Irish Sea. It's basically a towerhouse that was built in the mid 16th century by the Adairs. It was extended in the early 17th century, but by 1700 the place was derelict. Like so many defended houses, it was built on the remains of an earlier house dating back to around 1320, but that was destroyed in a local skirmish around 1500. by cristina
