T-Shirt Quilt

Using Clear square pattern, cut 30 t-shirts with rotary trimmer.

Buy Fabric for in between t-shirts
And fabric for back of quilt
Buy batting for quilt enough for a queen size quilt

Cut 4 – 4 1/2” x 90 strips (Set 2 strips aside)
Cut 9 – 2 1/2” x 90 strips (Set 4 strips aside)

Take remainder strips and cut into 14” pieces
10 – 4 1/2” x 14”
25 – 2 1/2” x 14”

keep extra pieces to add 4” to bottom of long strips

arrange t-shirt squares on floor 5 across and 5 down
(make sure there aren’t too many of the same color close together)

On the TOP of each t-shirt on the TOP row pin a 4 ½ x14 strip. Do the same on the BOTTOM of all the squares on the BOTTOM row.

Now pin a 2 ½ x 14 strip onto the top of all the other squares.

It is helpful to pin a small piece of paper to the 1st square of each row labeling the row. 1 2 3 4 5

Sew the strips onto the squares – be careful not to mix up the rows.

Now pin the rows downward to each other. Then sew.

Next pin a 4 ½ x 98” strip to the outside row of row 1 and 5. Then pin a 2 ½ x 98 strip to the other side of #1, 2, 3, & 4. Now you are ready to sew the strips together to the next row.

YOUR TOP IS DONE!

Take the fabric of the bottom and put right side up on the floor. Put the t-shirt top on upside down (Facing the other fabric) place the batting on top. PIN. Sew around all 4 sides leaving about 24” not sewn on the bottom. Turn right side out. Top stitch around the outside edge of the quilt. You are now ready to tie the quilt or stitch around pictures on the t-shirts!

Mod Triangles quilt - Mod Triangles is a fast and fun project that can be made with charm squares or strips. It is one simple block. Make a lap (47" x 57") or a queen (86" x 92") For the lap version you need 40---5" charms and 2 5/8 yds of background and binding fabric. In place of the charms you can use 5---4" x 45" strips of 5 different fabrics. That is how we made our sample. The queen version uses 91---5" charms or 12---4" x 45" strips of fabric and 7 1/4 yds of background and bindin by leta
