Waxy Monkey Tree Frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagii), is a hylid frog belonging to the subfamily of South and Central American leaf frogs, Phyllomedusinae that inhabits the Chaco (dry prairie) of Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. The subfamily consists of around 50 species in three well-known genera, Phyllomedusa, Agalychnis and Pachymedusa. The vast majority of known species, including Phyllomedusa sauvagei, belong to the Phyllomedusa genus.

Female Sharp-shinned Hawks are about a third bigger and heavier than males. This is common for hawks and owls, but otherwise uncommon amongst birds. The difference in size between the sexes reflects in the size of their prey. Nestlings feed first on small prey captured by the father, before moving on to the larger prey caught by the mother. One Sharp-shinned Hawk was found in Central Park in this year's Bird Count.

The Bushveld rain frog is found in Southern Africa. When threatened, it puffs itself up to ward off potential attackers. The frogs are sexually dimorphic, and the male is too small to mount the female properly to reproduce. The white secretion you see on the back of the frog is actually an adhesive that holds the male in place during copulation.
