The Albuquerque, New Mexico balloon festival, known as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta®, is the world's largest hot air ballooning event. For nine days during the first full week of October, hundreds of colorful balloons float above the city each morning as dawn breaks over the Sandia Mountains. It's no wonder this visual feast is said to be the world's most photographed event.
Way above Interlaken, Switzerland, Dad took me to the Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in the world, 11,333 feet above sea level. It sits between two huge peaks in the Alps, the Jungfrau and Monch. We even trekked across the ice and snow to a little chalet where we got a little food. The brightness of the sun off the mountain actually burned my eyeballs and I wasn't able to see at all when I woke up in the middle of the night. Luckily I was better in the morning, but that was scary!
