The antique Ex Voto of the Sacred Heart was found in France. Beautifully engraved on the front is a graceful letter "M" for "Marie", a cross, and sinuous foliage. The piece is quite old and time and the elements have left their mark by way of a stunning patina in variegated hues. It appears almost as though this piece was buried deep in the earth with its secrets, and then rediscovered. by beth taylor

Woodland Cemetery (Ohio) is supposedly haunted. The most famous haunting is that of Johnny Morehouse and his dog. Legend has it that Johnny fell into the Miami Erie Canal. His faithful dog tried to pull him out, but it was too late - the little boy froze to death. After he was buried, Johnny's dog laid on his grave and wouldn't move. In time, the dog died of starvation and a broken heart. In 1861, a special stone was made with a statue of Johnny and his dog. by polly

This is the caribbean island of Montseratt in the West Indies. In the 17th century, Britain colonized the island and held on to it ever since. The Sphinx is generally accepted to have been built along with the Pyramids of Giza around 2500 BC. But, the Sphinx today has a vertical weathering profile in the limestone trench surrounding it. This erosion, according to geology, could only be the result of prolonged rainfall, in contrast to the dry weather experienced in Egypt since 2500 BC. Based on the climatic evidence, a geologist at Boston University, estimated it between 9,000 to 12,000 years old, when climate was wetter by bobbi

Dewey Beard or Wasú Máza (“Iron Hail”, 1858–1955) was a Minneconjou Lakota who fought in the Battle of Little Bighorn as a teenager. Chief Iron Hail is often mistaken by historians for Chief Iron Tail, being Lakota contemporaries with similar sounding names. Most biographies incorrectly report that Chief Iron Tail fought in the Battle of the Little Bighorn and that his family was killed in 1890 at Wounded Knee, when in truth it was Chief Iron Hail who suffered the loss. by vera

"A Promise" | Loch Lomond, Scotland • "An early morning drive around Loch Lomond revealed a glimpse of the incredible beauty of the region. Coupled with a blood red sunrise and low lying mist, I wished that if there were only more time, I would be able to capture some more of its genteel landscapes. Instead, armed with a map, it was all guess work and a targeted approach in trying to find a location to best make the most of the sunrise. I’m happy to say that on this occasion it was a fruitful mission and we managed to enjoy two wonderful locations during our final landscape shoot of the trip. How often do we seem to experience great light and locations as soon as home beckons? Even the drive down from Ullapool was an exercise in frustration. All the mountains along the route were now covered in snow, the fire grasses thick with frost, the lakes giving off mirror like reflections, and the light glorious. Unfortunately, it was not possible to stop along the way and these beauties had to be experienced without a camera in hand. At the end of the day, I believe this is as it should be. Scotland showing itself at its best, teasing me, making me promise that I should return one day to deepen those scratches that I have made on its surface." by Kah Kit Yoong via 500px.com by jewell

I like to have a spare professional grade flat iron on hand because the old one normally goes kuput at the worst time. I ordered this unit and received it in less than 5 days. Since I have never owned a HSI, I wanted to try it out before putting it on the shelf. All I can say is that I like this unit better than my CHI and it was 40 bucks cheaper. Great piece of equipment and the seller was lightning fast with shipping. $54.95 by ines
