I didn't feel like the kids were actually reading, or getting anything out of parent signature reading logs. Students to have to respond to what they read in a meaningful way. This 5 part response log, with different responses each day allows students to choose which response they want to do, and complete one part a night. They then get the log back the next day to repeat the process. By the end of the week, they have done 4 responses. In by gsisib

This is simply a convenient and easy to build jig that can help to hold logs whilst you saw them. I always found that when I clamped logs down to my bench for sawing that they always wriggled loose due to the fact that they're round. With this very simple device you can slip the log inside and get instant clamping pressure for a fiddle free cut! The video above shows the general steps of the build and the holder in use but as always I'll go into more detail of the build below.I hope ... by estelle

Need a fun way to help your students practice counting to 120? Try this 120 Chart Scavenger Hunt. Assembling the GIANT 120 chart is simple. Then you just have to hide the 120 Christmas cards all over your classroom. Let your students scour your classroom looking for all of the 120 cards. As they find them, have them place them on the 120 chart, until you've found them all. Then practice counting to 120. Your kids will LOVE this! by simone

Last year when Debbie sent us a bunch of Kaffe Fassett fabric for her month in the Threads Together Quilting Bee, I made this log cabin block for her, and decided I wanted to make a whole quilt just like that. I collected fabrics, I even washed them, but then they just sat there. Until yesterday. After the Modern Quilt Guild meeting, I felt a push to work on something, and this was sitting there waiting for me! I originally wanted to make the logs as tiny as the ones in Debbie's block, but... by johnnie

Show me the MONEY! For this foldable, you have to cut each flap. In first grade I always prepared the books ahead of time, but I think 2nd graders could definitely handle making them on their own. On the inside, the students describe the coins and write how to make a dollar using the coins on the flap. It is great for coin recognition as well as counting money. by terri

I would have this hanging on my wall so that students can see what they need to work on instead of the teacher reminding them everything. I think students would enjoy this because it is a good see where they are and what they need to work on when they write. Also if a student is stuck on one thing another student can help them by gena
