I love it when camping season rolls around and it is time for some good dutch oven cooking. There is nothing like the taste of campfire cooking. This is another fabuolus campfire cooking recipe using dutch ovens from my friend Ryan.
A variety of Geraniums have been planted already in my back courtyard! I like the colour combo here with the red chair and also the different pots. Cute! ;)

Venice. One of the most magical places I have ever been...and I got to go with my hubby (twice). How lucky am I? And also once as a young girl.
Did protecting my kids’ innocence work? No and yes. In their growing-up years they still watched things they shouldn’t (when I didn’t know) and one of my children as a teen found a way to get around some of the safety protections we set up on the Internet and was drawn into places this teen should never have been. So I wasn’t able to protect my kids completely. But in many ways they were allowed to stay kids longer.
All I know is it has been following me for days. I don't know what /it/ is, or why it's following me, but I hate it. I don't even know how got here. I sprint into the camp, which I've been headed to for days on a whim-- a hope that maybe it could be a safe haven. I've heard stories: this crippled kid named Basil who I was convinced was obsessed with me had been telling me constantly to go there for the summer. That was before they took my mom, before I was alone. I don't remember any of the past two or three years, but I know that I have to get here. Out of reflex that I don't understand, I push toward the creature with my hand, and the ground moves to push it backwards. As I pass the gates, the monster tries to follow me, but it slams into some unseen force. Filled with exaustion and sheer relief, I collapse to the ground, trying to catch my breath. I feel a tap on my shoulder, and jump, grasping my knife. "Who...who are you?" I question. I'm terrified of all these faces surrounding me, but again, out of a reflex I can't explain, my voice is calm and my hand is steady. "What was that??"
Confession. I have not been a very good wife these last several weeks. When my husband started school back in July, I let if effect me in some not so positive ways. I have been moody, on edge and emotional. Some of it warranted, and some not so much. It wasn’t until the other day... Read More »
Grim-faced GIs contemplate a pile of dead bodies at the Buchenwald concentration camp in 1945. Scenes like this were repeated throughout Germany, with some GIs taking things into their own hands and summarily shooting SS guards. These incidents were (reluctantly) investigated by command without any serious penalties for those involved (my reaction would have been similar to the GIs meeting such scenes).

I put some in a spray bottle with distilled water and spay all my surfaces. It is a complete natural disinfectant. You will also love the roll on oils instead of fragrances.

Haworth, England, home of the Brontes. One of the coolest places I have ever been because of my love of their books. Admittedly, I should not have arrived on the night of Halloween and listened to a night-time ghost walk in the graveyard. Especially because I was traveling alone.
