The Catalan World Atlas was made in 1375 by the Majorcan cartographic school by Cresques Abraham. Its been in the Bibliothèque nationale de France since time of Charles V. The Catalan Atlas consisted of 6 vellum leaves painted in colors incl gold and silver. The first two leaves contain texts re: cosmography, astronomy astrology. The map emphasizes the Earth's spherical shape. Gave info to sailors on tides and how to tell time at night. The Catalan Atlas is read with the north at the bottom.
