Woody Guthrie - He was scorned as an "Okie" everywhere he went. But he wrote songs for the common people - suffering from the Depression and fleeing the dust bowl - once proud farmers, living with their children in squalor as migrant workers. This wasn't the America they had been raised to believe in. They worked HARD - and they couldn't survive because of what industrial farming had done to the land. They got poorer & poorer - while the rich got richer. Woody told their story in song.
