Faroese stallion Ljósið. Faroese Pony (Føroyskt ross) is a small pony living in the windy, rugged Faroe Islands. Its history is quite the same as better-known Icelandic's: horses were imported to Faroe first by Vikings and they were mainly from Norway but perhaps also from Iceland and Shetland. The breed is very old but in 60's it was on the brink of extinction with only few horses left. The numbers are increased later but in 2010 there were only 53 Faroe ponies.
